Experimental duo Moontwin, comprised of singer-songwriter Maple Bee (aka Melanie Garside) and Zac Kuzmanov, have a spacy and euphoric new song, “Symbols.” The track, consisting of a dazed instrumental and Maple Bee’s angelic vocals, takes the listener on a blissful journey of the conscious and unconscious mind.
“Symbols” delves deep into the thoughts that go through our head when we’re almost sleeping, basically our subconscious thinking. These thoughts of our fears, sadness, happiness, hopes, and dreams are tackled within the dreaminess of “Symbols.” The song, bittersweet in both the lyrics and melody, is somewhat comforting simultaneously, almost sounding like a lullaby. This lullaby-like tune gives the listener a feeling of peacefulness, resorting back to our most innocent stage in life, a child. At the same time, an almost uneasiness is also felt within “Symbols,” highlighting our conscious and unconscious thoughts as we drift off.
Moontwin came to fruition when Zac and Melanie met in London. Unfortunately, Zac had to move back to his native Bulgaria after being diagnosed with the degenerative muscle disease ALS, and the duo has been creating music virtually ever since. Even with the thousands of miles apart between Cornwall (UK) and Plovdiv (Bulgaria), their art seamlessly goes together, as if the two were meant to create music with one another.
Take a listen to “Symbol” today, as it is guaranteed to be like nothing you’ve ever heard before.
